the shaggin' wagon

this is my car. i've had it since before i had my driver's license. it is a 1987 chevy celebrity station wagon. it has power everything, a 2.8l engine, and a 5-speed manual tranny. that's right, you heard me correctly. the wagon is a manual. my parents special-ordered it and for a long time it was the family car. it became mine when my dad wrecked it and decided to get himself a truck. overall it's not in too bad of shape. it runs well and gets me where i want to go. plus, the chicks dig it.

mini-thirty

boy, this entry has been long coming.

i got my ruger mini-thirty rifle brand-new for my 21st birthday. i had originally planned to buy it myself, but since i was buying it through a dealer friend of my dad, my parents got to him with the money for it before i did in order to surprise me. when i went to pick it up, we went through all of the registration and other fbi mandated stuff. then it came time to pay the man, so i asked if he would take a check. he said no, and handed me a birthday card from my parents. touching story, no?

the mini-thirty fires 7.62x39mm ammo just like my ak, which is one of the main reasons i chose it over the mini14. the model i chose has a hardwood stock and stainless steel hardware. it came with a 5 round clip and i later bought a 30 round banana clip for it, but the banana clip is kind of goofy and doesn't work right, so i'll probably end up selling it.

ak-47

ok. it's not really an ak-47; it's a misr-90. but it is an ak-47 variant. the misr-90 is a mutt comprised of parts from the egyptian maadi and the chinese mak-90. it is semi-auto and has an odd-looking "clubfoot" butt stock. it fires 7.62x39mm ammo. i have a 5 round clip, a 40 round clip, and a 75 round drum to go with it.

1911a1

my 1911a1 was frankensteined together from parts from many other 1911's. the slide is remington rand, the frame is essex, the barrel is colt, and who knows what the rest is. the important part is that it works and i like it.

joebob

joebob is my main computer. he isn't too impressive, but he does what i need and then a little more. joebob is powered by an intel pentium III 800mhz sitting on the 100mhz front side bus of my asus p3b-f motherboard. he has 640mb of pc-100 sdram, an ati radeon all-in-wonder ddr video card, and a creative soundblaster audigy 2 platinum ex sound card. the sound card is attached via digital optical cable to my 5.1 surround receiver. i currently have about 141gb of hard drive space among three hard drives. joebob is also equipped with a 52x 32x 52x cd-rw drive and an 8x dvd-rom drive.

xerxes

xerxes is one of my other computers. he is a pentium 133mhz with 32mb edo ram. really the only thing cool about xerxes is that he has a tape drive. granted it's a qic-80, but a tape drive none the less. xerxes is currently down. his power supply isn't up to par and i haven't felt like blowing money on an old school 'at' power supply.

metatron

metatron is an old monster.com dell poweredge 6300 server. i don't know what it used to do for monster, but i use it to heat my room. it has quad pIII xeon 550s, 3gb ecc sdram, 10x 9gb scsi hard drives in a raid5 configuration (74.56gb usable), and 3 redundant power supplies. it is also 7u (17.5" w x 12.26" h x 27.59" d) rack-mountable. this thing is huge and loud.

recently, i bought a dell powervault 200s scsi hard drive enclosure for metatron. it came with 5 18gb hard drives which i also made into a raid5 array, resulting in 66.73gb available. the drive enclosure adds an additional 56lbs to metatron's already heavy ~150lbs self and almost doubles the loudness.
